SewChic4U: Slow Fashion, Fast Style
The epitome of chic, cute, and comfortable: SewChic4U. Having just released a new collection last Saturday, we had a chance to sit down with the owner herself, Rebeka, and ask a few questions about what’s next to come.
SewChic4U is inspired by fun, nostalgic, and Y2K aesthetics, which is exactly why it’s one of our favourite brands at Contemporary Girl. “I like making pieces that feel cute, trendy, and easy to style,” Rebeka told Contemporary Girl. Rebeka started off with sewing classes, eventually starting SewChic4U.
“With the help of my amazing sewing teacher, I fell in love with it. I started making clothes for myself and eventually turned it into SewChic4U.”
Thank goodness for that sewing teacher!

Like style icon Carrie Bradshaw, we couldn’t help but wonder how SewChic4U’s collections come to be. Naturally, we just had to find out.
“When I start a new collection, I first look at what’s trending.” Rebeka told Contemporary Girl. “For my last one, polka dots were really in, so I designed around that. After a bit of research, I figure out the overall vibe, like Y2K, then pick fabric I love and plan out what to make.”
SewChic4U’s new fall collection embraces the 2000s and 2010s aesthetics of characters like Bella Swan. Gone are the bright, colourful pink polka dots of the summer, and here to stay are the silently stylish neutral black, whites, and greys of the colder seasons — until March, that is.
With this new collection, there’s a pivot toward trendier looks while keeping the 2000s aesthetics that it’s known for with the goal of making versatile pieces. Every piece is dainty and girly, while still being perfect for any look you’ve concocted in your head. “I wanted to make something [..] that can be styled in different ways and worn in different seasons. I love layering clothing, so I wanted to create pieces that can make it simple and fun to mix and match”.
SewChic4U is definitely the small business you need to have in your closet not only this autumn, but this winter, spring, summer, and the autumn after that. In the direction they’re heading, we wouldn’t be surprised when it turns into the brand to wear.
