Picking up after Can’t Handle Hollywood, Lily Forte is coming back “Out of the Blue” — a blues-y comeback anthem — to kick off her new era.
Forte wrote Can’t Handle Hollywood over a few years as a collection of songs. As we move into her next album though, we can expect songs to be specifically written for the album. “I would say it’s a bit more intentional, and I’m really excited for you guys to hear the story behind the music” Forte says.
“I’ve had a lot of life experience in the last year. I’ve fallen in love, I’ve had my heart broken, [and] I’ve grown up a lot, so I think there’s a lot more to say. [..] You can pretty much infer it’s a breakup song, [like] when somebody leaves your life suddenly and really all you can do is move forward and rationalize the situation.”
Since Losing the Illusion, Forte’s had her perspective on love and life changed. “I’ve lived a lot of life since then. I was 19 years old, writing these songs about a boy I had a crush on, and it was so exciting, feeling so enthralled by another person. [Now], my perspective on the world and just my life experience alone has grown a lot, [but] I’m still the same girl with the long hair and the bangs — that won’t change. Or maybe it will. Maybe I’ll dye my hair or get a haircut. But I’m still the same me.”

As we wait for the next album, we can expect to see influences from Led Zeppelin, Lana Del Rey, Pink Floyd, and Patsy Cline in its sound and songwriting. Visually, we’ll be seeing the mid-century aesthetics that Forte has familiarized herself with in the past two singles incorporated with modern influences.
“I’ve always loved the sixties and the seventies. I’ve always gravitated to a lot of album covers from those time periods. I just like how it almost looks like a lot of those covers were paintings.
“The music video for ‘Miles to Go’ was inspired by Miller High Life vintage ads, which we got to incorporate into the video. For ‘Out of the Blue’, that music video’s really just a blunt story. It’s from top to bottom how I felt losing a relationship, so there’s [also] modern ties to my music.”

As we move into 2026, we’ll be seeing Lily Forte more and more, and if these last two singles are any clues, we can expect this next era to be one of her best. “[The album] is coming out early 2026, and I want to perform a lot of live shows surrounding the album release. I’m excited for everyone to see it. I have a lot of music that I’m waiting to be put out into the world — so get ready.”
