Behind the Scenes with Ana Jade

Ana Jade is this close to coming to her big moment. Having just released her very first song, “Stuck”, a melancholy single about feeling stuck where you are. As the singer begins to do bigger things with her music, it’s clear that “Stuck” is just the tip of the iceberg for Ana Jade.

Released on her sixteenth birthday, “Stuck” was actually the first song Ana Jade wrote in 2025. “I wrote it in one night in January, and recorded it with just my guitar in my bedroom that week. I'm a perfectionist, so I really want all of my work to be as perfect as it can be. It's hard for me to feel a song is finished enough for release, but it's something I'm trying to get over.”

As she works on her debut EP, which is set for a 2026 release date, Ana Jade is aiming towards telling a story in it. “I have several songs finished, but I really want to tell a full story, so I’m always writing more songs for it.” Not only does she have a distinct vision for what she communicates through her music, she also knows exactly what she wants her music to sound like. “I'm currently saving up money to work with a producer. I can play guitar, but I have very big visions, [both] sonically and production wise for my music that I can't do myself. I live in a small town, so it's hard to find someone, which is why I produced and recorded my first song myself! I have at least 10 songs finished right now, but I really need production on them to feel complete.”

Though she’s only just now released her debut single, Ana Jade isn’t new to music at all. Watching and dancing around to music videos on MTV as a toddler, “I have always been into music my entire life,” she told Contemporary Girl.

“I don’t think there’s been a single day of my life since I learned how to talk where I haven’t been singing all around the house. Even now, I can’t go a day without singing. I’ve been writing songs since I was about six years old, and it’s always been a big part of my life. I can fully say I wouldn’t be myself without it. I’m super grateful for music as a whole; it got me out of one of the darkest times in my life, and I’m so grateful to be able to experience that.”

With the likes of alt-pop superstar Lana Del Rey and princess Nessa Barrett as role models, Ana Jade says that her music doesn’t take inspiration from others — it’s all authentically her. “I don't think any of the songs I write that are written from the heart sound like any others - because honestly, I can't compare to them.

“A big influence to my music, though, is the art of storytelling. I've always loved songs that can really put you in a headspace where you can see this story playing out almost cinematically in your head, and I hope to do that in my songs for other people.

“[I feel inspired by] other songwriters like Madison Beer, Gracie Abrams, Taylor Swift, and several more. They definitely inspire me and my songwriting to be better and have less surface level lyrics. Being vulnerable in music is hard, especially when you know your family and friends are listening, but it’s something I’m pushing myself to do. If I can make just one person feel less alone, that’s enough for me”

Speaking of her songwriting, Ana Jade has done it the same way ever since she was a little girl. “Whenever a lyric comes to me, I write it down and then build the song around that”, she says.

“I’ve never had much success trying to sit there and think of a lyric. I just let it happen naturally. Ever since I started playing guitar last summer though, sometimes I’ll play a chord progression and write lyrics that fit that. Usually I’ll have just one lyric I can build a song around. I ask myself questions like, ‘What do I want to tell with this song? If I was in this situation, what would I say?’ Most of my songs are fictional, but some of my favourites are from the heart about my own struggles.”

Recently, Ana Jade played Fall Festival in Keystone Heights, only the second time she’s ever sung an original song live. Though she’s self admittedly a very anxious person, she loses herself in her singing once she starts. “I will definitely remember the whole thing forever, but a memorable moment was when I noticed people were actually standing around to listen to me sing. I usually sit with my eyes closed — it’s a habit — so when I opened my eyes and saw people watching, especially these adorable kids, it was really surprising but super fulfilling. [I’m also] so thankful for this really kind lady named Drew Bell. She organizes all the Keystone Events, and she even invited me back to play in December! She’s very encouraging and super sweet.” Though this is only one of her first performances, we’re completely sure that it won’t be her last.
